Remember the days of Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? The original series, I mean, when Saturday Morning cartoons were actually worth waking up early for.

I remember before filesharing was popular, and I knew a private server that I got songs off of, but it took 25-30 minutes to download each one because we were using the fastest modem at the time, 56k.

I remember playing the origional Warcraft with a friend online, having to call his 28.8k modem in order to play, and spending hours trying to get our network settings correct.

I remember when the origional version of Warcraft II came out, and we'd have to plan out a time and get everyone's IPs so we could set up a sweet game after school

ok so maybe I'm not that old, but if I'm not FS isn't either lol

I remember the days of the "Might Morphin' Power Rangers" and I'm talking about the very first series. That was good times. One funny thing about it I realize now is that the Black Ranger was actually black lol

Anyone remember that SWEET Windows 3.11,

man those were the days when WordPad ruled the word processing world. And the tower itself was like a suitcase on your desk that weighted a ton

How about zelda and Super Mario Brothers right before school every morning? And pirates or dark waters..you remember that show..with the flying monkey.

And yes, the "black" ranger was black. The "yellow" ranger was asian. Go figure.

Oh man, Windows 3.11 was awesome. I had Sim City 2000 and Return to Zork on my beast, back when it could run. :D

Lol. That was back when I liked the show... Uh I think it was called the Centurions or something like that, with the 4 dudes that like one was a submarine, another was a motorcycle, then a robot, and there was also a plane guy too.

Pretty sweet show.

I remember when I was in Grade 11 I went on a trip to London, Ont. The best friend of the guy I stayed with had a new computer (it ran dos). He used to go to his local video game store and rent games on 5 1/4 floppies. Once the game was loaded, he had to switch floppies to play the game. Then half way through the game he would have to switch to another floppy.

Later that year I went to visit my brother in University. We were walking down the hallway and my brother noticed one of the profs computers was on. He pointed to it and said "Look! that computer is running Windows 3.1" It was a brand new operating system and the first time I saw Windows.

The next year I went to University. In my second year of University I was introduced to the wonderful world of the internet. Back then, it was all text based and Mozilla was the browser of choice. You had to download pictures in order to view them because it would take too long for the page to load (even if the website supported pictures). Also, there was no such thing as having to pay to use a site. Anything you wanted was at your fingertips for free (if you get my meaning).

The next year I was introduced to X-Windows and used to telnet into the University modem pool with my brand new 28.8 modem and use their programs on my computer at home. It would take 5 minutes for a program to load, then take forever to actually do the work that I needed to do (but I could do it from the comfort of my home on my 486 DX 2-66)

I remember our first computer a C-64 – over time I became quite good at basic. Anyone remember the “,8,1” code to tell it to read from a floppy disk? (at least I think it was for the floppy). How about the tape drive, where you could store a computer game on a cassette tape - and reloading it took 20 min.

I used my first mouse on a C-64, running GEOS – a windows kind of program… it was a useless program and frankly was more difficult then loading the programs though basic.

I know no one will know about GEOS so here’s a link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GEOS_%288-bit_operating_system%29

yep – I would spend 7 or 8 hours programming in basic some days when I was 10 (when there was nothing better to do).

-----

anyone play pong? We had a console for pong that was fun – two knobs (one for each player) that you would turn to move your stick around.
