ok so i had to write this essay on how rap music sucks so i did and i wanted to share it with you guys here to see what you thought of it




Have you ever listened to rap music? I think rap music is crappy and good for nothing "sex" music. All rap music talks about is talk about drugs and sex. Rap music is being blamed for teen pregnancies.

Males are starting to believe females are sexual objects. This is because of the rap music's sexual talk. "This talk portrays females by degrading them and also depicts men as sexual studs." as said by Dr Steven Martino. This "rapping" of sexual content is making our Nation; a Nation of pride and glory in to a Nation full of sex talk.

When the kids start listening to the rap their minds start thinking that sex and drugs are god. When the kids start hearing rap music they will want to have sex or to do drugs. The lyrics of rap's songs are causing teen boys to think that teen girls are sexual objects. A research team surveyed 1,461 children aged from 12 to 17 from across the country asking them about their sexual behavior and how often they listened to music by various artists including rock, country, rap, blues and pop. Teens who listened to a lot of music that had a lot of sexual references in them were more sexual active. This was regardless of race or sex the research said.

The music videos teens listen to also affect teen sexual behavior. The music videos shows females sexually grinding on males. That grinding is causing female teens to want to grind on teen males to feel "sexy". This should NOT be happening!

Therefore there should be a stop to teens listening to this type of music. Some ways to stop this is by having the parents of the teens censer what the their kids are listening to. Another way is to influence to have parents influence their teens on appropriate type of music to listen to; in turn this will stick in the teen's minds and work on getting them not to listen to rap music. Lastly Parents should watch what types of music they let their teens buy or have on mp3 players.

The problem with your essay is that it uses huge gerneralizations, without talking about specific examples.

Also, what about rock music and goth music? Is it just a coincidence that most dissillusioned white youths listen to these types of music? What about the drug culture of the 60's? Wasn't this influenced by rock, WAY before rap was even conceived?

There's a lot of rock/metal that talks about drugs and sex.

"Hate Rap" and "Sex Rap" are stereotypes. Not ALL rap is about money, bi*ches and guns. In fact, almost ALL of the rap I listen to has political connotations. Try listening to Immortal Technique.

No. Males have always thought of females as sexual objects. And just to further disprove your theory; It's not the only music that can produce the same result, so why single it out?

Your essay fails. First, you use first person. Second, you make a lot of error regarding spelling, grammar, etc. Third, your conclusion was almost okay, then you introduce a whole new issue regarding MP3 players. That's with just a skim reading. If you're actually doing this for school, you'll need to clean it up to get a passing mark.
You also don't seem very passionate/supportive about your thesis. Why shouldn't this be happening? What does rap have to do with it? What does rap do?
Your essay is too short; barely 350 words. I'd probably fail for writing less than 50% of the MINIMUM length.
Your intro is retarded. First, it's incorrect. All rap music is not about sex and drugs (read the second half of my post). Second, it's informal (crappy? LOL). Third, read the stuff I wrote before. Sorry, I am now reading it more in depth.

P3...oh is rap = sex your thesis? I didn't know that (hint: fix your intro). Blah blah blah, BS studies. Integrate the last line into another one.
P4...where your source on this? Come to think of it, I don't see references! Last line should be addressed or removed. Why is it bad? Is it harmful? No exclamation marks if this is supposed to be serious.
S1P5. Oh, that came out of left field! What is bad about having a kid at 16? What is bad about increased sexual activity? Of course I am drawing links here that your teacher wouldn't be so kind to do. You haven't proven why any of this is bad! You're just assuming someone believes early sexual activity is bad, which you haven't proven at all either.

Your studies are also BS. Have you heard the saying "correlation does not imply causation?" It basically means two things can correlate, but they may not be related. You say teen pregnancies are on the rise, as is rap music listening. Perhaps this is because...
Puberty is completed, on average, something like 9 months faster than it was ~50 years ago. Sooner sexual maturity = sooner sex.
Media (besides, and including, rap) includes way more sexual content than 5, 10, 15 years ago.
Rap music is new, thus accurate studies aren't possible yet, and won't be, because it's a stupid study.






Ok so I am sorry for how messy this is. I tend to write like this, but since this isn't school, I don't need to make it nice! I IMPLORE you to read it all though, because it is largely good advice. I think it is selling myself short to say the majority of my essays receive an A. GL.

The rap you're looking at is mainstream BS. Underground rap probably has lyrics about black pride, black nationalism, etc. I can't say for sure because I don't listen to it. I'm basically taking what I know about metal and applying it to rap. Metal is seen as "white man's music," while rap is seen as "black man's music." I don't know the listener demographics of rap, but I know underground black (not the racial term black BTW:P) metal has an overwhelmingly white fanbase. There IS racism. There IS nationalism. (I do not adhere to these extreme ideologies, so don't turn this thread into a s***storm; PM me if you want an intelligent discussion kthx.) I'll bet there is an equivalent underground rap scene. This is the rap people who care about more than the music listen to. These people are the ones who take music into RL, not the idiots who may be influenced by the music. There are no lyrics about f***ing hos and stealing cars, because they're not the image these musicians want.
Look at mainstream metal: it's musically worthless. The lyrics are simply lyrics written and sung. The artists only want money.
Mainstream black metal: Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth. Neither represent anything true black metal stands for. But ask a random "metal head" what he/she thinks BM is, and you'll probably get one of those two bands.


So I went way off topic because I got interrupted half way through and my brain decided to be gay and forget everything I thought of.
So to summarize:
Mainstream rap is commercial. The lyrics mean nothing. The people who are truly influenced by them are sheep. Make decisions based not on music, even if it means the exact same decision.
Underground rap doesn't have the same "objectionable" lyrics; they're way more objectionable!
I know this because underground scenes are nothing like what bubbles to the top.

There is plenty of underground rap that is way more hardcore then anything you'll ever find on the radio or t.v., so that's not really true... Underground raps about killing, raping, and mutilating woman vs mainstream bling bling, tap dat a**, poppin guns... LoL

i know that i messed up in this essay by alot ... im a 8th grader who tryed to but together an essay in one night witch is hard i only had 2 hours to write it ... i know i didnt have good points .... i coulda done better yes ... but my addeince that i have to reach is 8th graders...

Wow..? That wasn't an essay, it was a paragraph, certainly not one you should be reading in school. In academic essays you aren't supposed to say any personal pronouns. And in any type of essay, you need a thesis, and you didn't have one.

I hope your teacher fails you and locks you in a closet with a midget hooker for making me read that.

If you need help, ask a teacher or hell. Post it on here and someone will be bored enough to proof read it. But if you sit there and BS the entire thing like a 1st grader no one will even bother.

That's your excuse? 2 hours and it's for 13 year olds? The criticism in this thread (at least mine) was meant to help you write a better essay. Age/grade is a horrible excuse to purposely write junk. Your education is something that will follow you for the rest of your life. It's more important than wasting the time before an assignment's due date doing worthless crap (within reason, of course; fun is important to learning). You were given much more than 2 hours to do your assignment.

Don't ask for advice on a forum if you're going to "defend" your situation, because that's simply retarded. Asking for help means you have no clue how to proceed, and admit your failure. Secondly, don't ask for advice if you never had an intention of trying. Thirdly, don't insult your peers by calling them stupid enough to appreciate your essay.

Your grammar and spelling (entire thread wise not just the essay) is horrible. I recommend you get an english tutor and stay after classes to improve your enligsh, im sure your teacher wouldnt mind helping you, or telling you where you can go to get help, because you need it.

I like when people bash others spelling/grammar. They try to have perfect spelling and grammar too.

Not perfect, since i can pick out several grammatical errors in my post as well, but at the very least the kid could spell "which" correctly, based on his posts and his essay he is not on an average 8th grader's writting level. Either that, or English isnt his native language, which in that case its fairly excusable.

The sad thing is, he is most likely from the states, and can't spell the simplest words like which, but that is what this whole generation is doing, because of the internet.. text messaging doesn't help either.

Point being, once you get into the real world, you're going to look like a moron when you try to get a job and you can't spell anything.
