How anyone expected another MMO is beyond me.
the rumours about another for another mmo comes from the fact that they are looking for about 60-80 devs with experiance en mmo developement... So I wouldn't be suprised if they would announce one some time soon.
As a huge SC 1 and 2 fan, I'm really eager for the release.

It looks like a graphical rebuild of Starcraft 1 (Starcraft and Brood War) from the screenshots. Yesterday the site said there would be a gameplay movie out today, but that was more lies!
I am happy to hear B.net will be rebuilt. I haven't played Warcrack, so I don't know what updates B.net has had since I was playing Starcraft heavily a year or so back. But I remember from my D2 days how unstable that s*** was and how poor the interface was. Despite the realm downs and the rampant cheating/hacking (that was GOOD, because it made D2 so fun:D), Starcraft had a worse time of it. Stalled DLs, lagged out games, 5 second waits for the menus, etc. Tons of inconveniences that directly contributed to my frustration with the game. Hopefully Blizzard has learned something.
Hopefully Blizzard will also not charge for SC2 online!

They're not going to charge for online play, it'll just be ordinary Battle.net. Besides, they've made enough money from WoW to pay people money to play the game.

SC & BW both have hero units, so why wouldn't SC2?
I think what victor meant, was WCIII type hero units, the kind that level up and hold items, as opposed to SC 'hero' units that just have different names and are a bit stronger.
I'm with Alex, looks the same with just WoW graphics.

It looks delicious. Remember Blizzard is very secretive and it's still in the alpha phase I believe. They know everything will be scrutinized so they have no choice but to do this right.

Okay, WC3 type heros is retarded. Whoever got their hero all the way up first won. no strategy at all, just level a hero really fast.
SC2 will not have heros like WC3.
Also as far as the SC MMO, it will happen. They are currently looking for developers as someone stated before for another MMO. A lot of talk is going around that they will make a 3rd SC to build up the fanbase like WC did and then release the MMO to have the best outcome.

Elminster is right. Anyways I still enjoy Starcraft today so I'm excited for starcraft 2. Anyways, Diablo 3 will probobly suck as I bet with the success of World Of Warcraft it will be 3rd person rather then tops down. BUT if they make it similair to Wow, as a mmorpg with demons and stuff it would be cool. Or world of starcraft :)
Rumour has it that they are in the pre-production stages of a new mmo engine. I wouldn't be suprised if they waited a few years before announcing what it actually is. People were expecting a starcraft mmo because an mmo and starcraft games are expected. But now that work on starcraft 2 is being made it reopens the possibility of a diablo mmo.
I think the main reason people expect an SC MMO is because of the 'World of Starcraft' Screenie they released for April fools a few years back.
Why does everyone think Blizzard will make every game after WoW a WoW-clone? Starcraft will never be made into an MMO because it will a) be a copy of WoW just like Starcraft was a clone of Warcraft 2, more or less, and b) Starcraft is MUCH more successful than the WC series, and thus Blizzard will not risk alienating the SC fans (read: Korea) by turning SC into a gay MMO.
The Diablo series is basically a "lite" MMO. I've never played WoW, but from what I've seen, it features smaller scale battles with multiple people. D2 was huge scale battles with one or two people fighting in an area at a time. It was also too primitive to be a full scale MMO. The characters were too rigid and few filled any role besides attacking (Paladin and maybe the Barb's Shouts are the obvious exceptions). Plus, the 8 player limit severely crippled any "MM" features. The game was so easy you didn't need to work together, BUT it had a lot of MMO elements present.
If Blizzard brought D2 to a 21st century engine and overhauled nearly everything, it could be a viable MMORPG without having to come up with a story, characters, monsters, items, levels, etc. If there's an upcoming MMORPG from Blizzard, it will be Diablo 3. There will be no "World of Diablo" because D2 was a primitive MMORPG, thus the transition would be logical.
But there's not going to be a World of Starcraft.
