Being you are not American I'll try to excuse you ignorance on this subject regardless of your feeling for his politics. John McCain served his country with great honor and loyalty. I wonder what insight you might have that makes you feel the need to insult the man.

I know one the thing and you can ask the North Vietnamese. The man is one tough cookie!

I've told anyone I'm willing to put up to $500 on the election. I mean especially once the republicans get to put Obama's pastor and wife's comments to center stage. Along with his comments on how people from rural America are "Bitter" and hold to their guns and xenophobia. Also electoral college wise, there is no way Obama can pull Florida.

I honestly can't see another Republican administration for the next four years. Bush screwed his party for at least a term, possibly two. The real question is Hillary or Obama....Surviving a Vietcong prison camp is admirable, but it doesn't make him a compitant leader.

Besides, Mcain's way too close to Bush. Guilty by association....

A good portion of those who vote simply vote for the same party regardless of who's running for it. A good portion of them also professed to hating Bush (sub 30% approval ratings or something close to that), yet he got in a second time AND won the popular vote. Republicans say they won't vote Republican this election. We'll see...

2004
Popular vote 62,040,610 59,028,444
Percentage 50.7% 48.3%

2000
Popular vote 50,456,002 50,999,897
Percentage 47.9% 48.4%

Bush is the first column.

Talk is cheap. People will go and say they hate Bush and he's the worst leader ever, but when it came to the 2004 elections, they voted for him. Regardless of Kerry's flaws, he couldn't be worse than "the worst president in history," right?

This, of course, goes both ways. People are saying if Obama/Clinton gets chosen over Obama/Clinton, they'll vote for McCain. It's also been shown that minority (race) candidates suffer a large percentage drop between straw polls and the actual results.

Dont care for either party....mccain helped put arizona in the red....they will be falling back on emergency funds this summer....no joke(in the red).

im from arizona,my family still lives there.......a 320 mil court house is being built with no funding in site to keep the government going.Arizona gets very little federal funding....this goes back to the martin luther king holiday and arizonas refusal to reconize it....which has been changed recently.

The state has always done it on there own,and over recent years has dropped the ball between mismanagement of funds and crooked government officials.

Mccain is a very unpredictable man,you never know what hes going to do next......and his so called capture during war was not everything the media hyped it up to be.

mccain has been a supporter of chief pyle.....the man that created "tent city"....its a prison system of fenced tents with 30 prisoners in each with 1 fan....outdoor showers no matter how cold or hot it is.

mccains implement of border control in az is a joke.....groups of citizens rotate at border shooting any that cross because arizona has huge gaps of patrolled areas.....drugs come up thru az easy.

Out of him and choices from democ....he is best choice.....guess its lesser of 2 evils.
Democ want a one world government, one world military and dont want any americans owning fire arms.Taxes go up 61/2 percent more when a democ is in office too.

It's scary, but I think Obama is more fiscally conservative than McCain. They both want tons of liberal policies, the only difference is that Obama wants up to pay for them, and McCain just wants to rack up more debt and ruin out dollar even more.

Uhh, I didn't read all the posts here, and realized it was a few days old when I noticed someone says it's gonna be either Obama or Clinton.. I'd bet anyone, Obama takes it over Mccain.. The majority of the country wants to get out of Iraq, and I believe that is enough right there for them to vote Obama.

I'm good with either one, really.. I'd prefer Obama, though.

I truly think that most of the people that expressed their views here received information through the clips aired right before the news. Not to mention the fact that most everyone seems completely one sided.

Check your facts people, this is important!

Korgy I'm shocked that you can associate "fiscally conservative" with anyone who is in support of national health care. As for the election I'm definitely in favor of McCain over Obama (I don't feel like writing a detailed explanation but if you would like one let me know), but the most important issue now a days is the Boumediene v. Bush decision which says that constitutional rights of habeas corpus extend to non-citizens. What happened to the times where we aboded by the constitution and didn't let judicial activism decide our policies.

Like what in particular CL?

If you are talking about the "right to privacy," show me where that exists explicitly in the constitution. I sincerely hope you also don't base your argument off the penumbras logic used in Griswold v. Connecticut.

No one on earth deserves privacy, privacy is a priveladge. Not a right.

I'm saying this cause i have no privacy AT ALL whatsoever the moment.

And I have no problem with this.
Yes i brought my predicament upon myself by getting redflagged hardcore. But still, privacy in this day and age is a threat too government.

Mccain is more of a true republican than Bush is. Whoever wins the election, church and state won't be as connected as they are now.

[Added at 06/14/2008 21:19:12 by Scytherboom]
That's my main gripe about the Republican party nowadays. It's become more of the evangelical party and not what true Republicans are all about.

So, just in general let me say that McCain is not my candidate of choice but it when it comes to the decision between the turd sandwich and giant douche I have to pick one.

Scyther, I completely agree with you in saying that republicans have been blurring the lines between separation of church and state far too much.

Korgy, McCain favors a plan to make health care more affordable for all but he has made it clear he does not believe in universal health care.

"MCCAIN: “I don’t think that there should be a mandate for every American to have health insurance. I think that one of our goals should be that every American own their own home, but I’m not going to mandate that every American own their own home. I think that every American should have, be available to, an affordable college education. But I’m not going to mandate that every American go to college. I feel the same way about health care. If it’s affordable and available, then it seems to me that again, it’s a matter of choice amongst Americans."

Honestly,

I think you guys have 2 candidates that are better than we had in our recent election (Howard was retiring). I ALWAYS vote liberal. Always. With our latest election I again voted liberal and was outvoted by the vast majority of IDIOTS in australia. We ended up with a government that has already torn the heart out of a prospering nation, and in the span of a short short time has taken one of the industrially most sound nations in the world and turns it on its head.

One thing is for sure, government is not something to approach either lightly or without a reasonable amount of information. If Australia had looked at what labour did to this country last time we would all be i a better place today. Now they have a term to destroy this nation and it will take 3 to repair it again.

The funny thing is that Rudd got in by saying it is all about giving a larger % of the money to the middle man. There are alot of middle men so it seems great to them, little do they think tho that a larger % of less can quite often be less than a lesser % of more.

Dont be foolish guys, dont believe what they tell you. Honestly the best way forward is to vote for the people that will manage americas money better because when your nation is doing well, each or your socio-economic areas are doing better than they would be if your nation is not doing well.

I have tried to simplify it all here but if there is only one thing you take away from this it is PLEASE do not treat the election lightly, America influences the whole world when it has hard times.

Pulk at the young age of 24 I've learned to read between the lines. McCain votes socialist, and that's what he is. He comes out and says he doesn't want nationalized health care, then in your quote basically sums up what nationalized health care is and says he's for it.

In the end, we cannot afford another idealistic socialist in office. I firmly believe that I know how to better spend my money on myself than the large fumbling blanket of government does. I feel that it's an insult whenever McCain or Obama goes up on stage and says they're going to take my money, funnel it through a bunch of incompetent government organizations who all take their share, and then I'll get whatever health care John McCain or Barak Obama feel that I deserve, and I think everyone else should feel the same way.

Loki,
Although I am English reading your opinions on Austalia and their government it was terrifyingly similar to my feelings on what is happening with England and the rest of Britain. This nation used to be a proud great country but now, and it kills me to say it, we are a global laughing stock. We are not allowed to fly that flag ot St George because it may upset immigrants, millions of people in this country abuse our benefit system, Gordon Brown wants sign away all of our history and rights to Brussells in the EU constitution and on top of that we pay the highest tax rates in Europe for fuel but we get the least per litre.
