I might buy one soon, what does everyone think/know of them?
I know I don't talk to FASCISTS.
They are smaller, under powered versions of a regular laptop with mostly worse battery life.
And yet, they manage to do the job, and a fraction of the price.

Yeah, I don't want linux.

You can get Netbooks that operate with Windows - I have one.
And as for the "Jew" comment...
Dude, there's funny, and then there's downright racist. That's crossing the line.

Funny how that joke has been made 10s of times, last time I recall is the thread about selling knives, but when I do it it's downright racist.

The cheapest MSI Wind is $489 CDN. It comes with a 1.6 ghz single core Intel Atom. You can get an Acer 15.4" with a dual core 2.0 ghz RM-70 (AMD Turion X2) for $681 CDN. $200 more is definitely worth it for a proper, full size laptop (you can find laptops for <$600 CDN too if you look at bigbox stores). The Acer has a bigger, sharper screen, more RAM, a bigger hard drive, and is much more powerful. You could actually watch video on it, for example. Have you ever tried actually doing something productive on a low res like 1024x600 (the Wind's native resolution)? Forget having two windows open side by side or stacked vertically. The Wind only has a 3 cell battery, which means low battery life. Most full size laptops have 6 cell batteries, and you can buy bigger ones.
Admittedly Acer isn't a good brand, but MSI isn't any better. I do not consider netbooks (sub notebooks) to be a good buy because you're dropping $400+ CDN to get the bare minimum, and $200 more would get you a full sized laptop which is so much faster and bigger. Yeah, it's more money for a real laptop, but it's a smarter financial decision. And it's also not like a netbook is small enough that it's infinitely more portable than a 15.4". You can't put it in your pocket like a PDA or cellphone, so you have to carry it in your bag, same as a regular laptop.

Thanks for your opinion, but I don't need a powerful computer, I have a desktop with c2q 9550, 2 gb ram (going to get 4 soon) and 2x radeon 4850.
I was choosing between a PDA phone and a netbook, came to the conclusion that a netbook is actually a real comp I can get for $300+ US, unlike those phones. The ones good enough are too expensive.
I believe a netbook IS much more portable than a laptop, as it weighs like 3x less (I have a spine trauma, I start having pains when I carry something as heavy as a laptop on my back for a few hours :( )
Btw, since when is USD so much more expensive than a CND? Wind sells at as low as $300 US, but I'm looking to get the one on newegg for $350, as I do want a 6-cell battery.

Our dollar went to poo poo .
You can get an iPhone or Blackberry with a contract cheaper. Unlocked are nearly $1000, though.

I got an Acer notebook. 2.4 Ghz AMd Proc, 3GB RAm, aqnd a 128 integrated Vd card for $300. I'm happy.
I just bought my mom a HP Mini 1000, and now I want it for myself.
I know a fair bit about computers, and I'm not some kind of of uneducated noob, but these things are pretty sweet. A nice contrast from my other laptop, which is a 17".
On the Mini 1000, the keyboard feels like it's a normal size, and it's pretty quick. I think I'm going to leave my 17" at home and take the 10.9" mini with me to class.
It was $649 (way less than the $4000 my parents spent on the one it might replace as my commuting computer), but it was well worth the extra coin. It's a lot nicer than the ONE and some other netbooks I've used.
