who listens to it?
I think blues is awesome. Especially the older jazz-infused stuff.
Blues are good.
But they're too depressing to listen all day.

I like that song that Lisa plays on The Simpsons when she's doing a tribute to Bleeding Gums Murphy. It's something Avenue lol
Don't get me wrong, there are some good blue songs out there, but they're always so depressing.
You know what's more depressing? Nickelback...
Or American Idiots.

Wow ... It's pretty obvious that none of you listen to blues. First of all because their not depressing ... at all. They're generally upbeat, uplifting, and more often than not humerous. Depressing music is found more often in romantic songs, since for some odd reason love and death are classically entwined. Blues however deal with hardship and pain, which is what makes up the vast majority of life.
Anyways, I am a huge fan of music in general, but blues especially. From artists like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Cream, to classic blues like Robert Johnson, Willie Dixon, Sleepy John Estes, Sonny Boy Williamson, and Blind Lemon Johnson, even to country blues like the Almman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Rock and Roll and R&B have their roots in the Blues, and since thats where Metal and Rap come from the roots are passed on. A massive amount of hit songs from the past 30 years or so are covers of traditional blues songs. So you might not listen to the blues, but the artists you listen to ... they almost certainly do.

Cheers Quicky Lol
I like blues because it's really strong music in painful circumstances, like beauty found in tragic conditions
but hey, music speaks different things to different people depending on their circumstances, so it's not unlikely it's depressing sometimes LoL
