If a parent actually names their daughter after a type of alcohol, then there's already a problem you could spot a mile away.
But then again, this is not always the case. Some people might think it's a great name. Eye of the beholder and all that junk.

Well.. My cousin is named Brandy.. She is neither a stripper, porn star or hooker. (That I know of, that is..)

I don't think you can judge the book (Or person?! :O) by it's cover.

And I know not to judge a book by its cover. That being said, generalizations are necessary for society to fuction as a whole.

While stereotyping is not ALWAYS a positive thing, think about what the world would be like if we NEVER made assumptions, and rationally thought out every single thing to the end of any possible line of questioning.

Not that that was the point of the post. The point is, the name "Brandy" comes with certain judgements and connotations that will never be positive. It's a simple fact of society. Thus, I would recommend against naming your child Brandy, even if you find it a pleasant name. They will be made fun of in High School.

I know we can't not make assumptions, I was just trying to disagree.. And I really do have a cousin named Brandy who doesn't fit the script, at all.. If you knew her, you'd know what I mean.

But I know exactly what you mean, for instance the name Kayla has always been a "fat girl" name in my opinion.. Seriously, am I wrong?

Maybe in the States, but in Canada, Kayla is a hot-girl name. Bertha is a fat girl name.

Bertha is such a fat person name that Callaway actually released a set of woods (golf clubs) called "Big Berthas". No lie.

In our neighborhood, anybody named "Bruce" was automatically assumed to be a sissy boy.
