indeed ^^ I still play to kill time. it still is fun . just less great players unfortunately. Someday, who knows, every one of ya might kick this I dont know what makes you dont want to play. Nostalgia my ass for those that say it but dont commit to it. anyways miss everyone of ya!
I just can't bring myself to play a dead game.
The fun of playing Nations was to GET on the top 50 and compete and also spend time on chat and talk about random stuff.
Now you do 1 set of turns and you're on the top 50 for the whole round. No one's ever in chat.

No matter how hard I try, I just can't resist popping in for a round or two every now and then, lol.
I think if we could get a bunch of the old lurkers -like me- to come back and play one big reunion round, it might breathe a little life back into the community. Probably never gonna happen, but we can dream.....

I think if you get together a group of oldies who now probably have full-time work to deal with, and maybe cooperate into building some Android/iOS versions of accessing Netnexus and/or its chat/games (such as an interface to do turns in Nations, or to click through TL), then a newer crowd and older crowd might have more time to dabble with their handhelds and revive Netnexus.
But then again, I also would imagine a huge overhaul of web development to take this place from 1997-1999 web design into 2014 web design would also benefit this place a whole lot.
Ultimately, I think the only thing that Netnexus has left going for it are the old lurkers who drop in every few weeks to say hi, and of course this old forum, which only recently was given the ability to hyperlink URLs, and has no text editor. It's such a refreshing thing to be able to use something this simple.
But I doubt the majority of the internet public share my view on simplicity.
IMO, this place needs an overhaul and new management. No offense to the Browns, whom have had children for over a decade now (who by the way must be ALL GROWN UP and, surprisingly, still haven't found out about this site). Also no offense to Blake, but ever since Tarsonis21 changed his name to whatever the hell it is, I haven't heard from him much.
I miss Elmo, and to this day I have never been able to tickle him. And the only life other than my little Elmo that tries anything fun around here from my perspective is Source, who must be busy with his own details as well.
Long story short, I think netnexus is a thing of the past and will forever be archived in my brain and heart.

Red, Those are all valid points. I have been pretty busy.. out of the military/divorced/going to school/ new game company startup/etc..
That being said most of the things you listed have been floating around the admins for a while. Blake and I have been in the chat pretty regularly the past few weeks though. For some reason the chat counter on the main page isnt working right, I may look into that today. Elmy is currently AFK in the chat with us.
I'm currently working on a new layout/structure for NN (Including mobile versions of things) That I want to run by Blake and Tom. I am also working on some simple multiplayer games with Unity (Their networking API is a little rough) they're coming along though.
My current main focus is school and my company, but my team (1 designer, two artists, two coders) are willing to work on some stuff for NN pro bono publico. I'm not announcing anything officially, or even asking anyone to get their hopes up, but things are being worked on. I've even seen TL2 (shhh dont tell anyone). All of that being said, the game my studio is working on will hopefully be pretty cool, and i'm excited to share it with you all, probably free advanced copies for some people around here(We're currently slated for a PSN/XBL/Steam late 2015 release, My PS4 devkit should be here in a few weeks =D)
