To make the game more interesting.... 27 replies
I purpose a slight change to Nations, the change being limited land available per active nation.
For example, for every 1 active player... 50 land is added to the game. So if somehow all the land has claim laid upon it, the only way to get more land is via force. I.E. attacking or nuking.
While I'm fairly confident this will never happen as no one cares enough to code such a change and the following responses will be mainly about not changing something that is not broken, it was just an idea to give the game more realistic approach to claiming land. After all the world is not infinite in size, so I think the game should reflect as such.

Great idea. Then more people will get pissed and mass each other for land everyday.
This idea would make the game more of a war game...

Of course, you'd have a beta session to see how it works and to get the land per player ratio set... and determine what makes a player considered "active" to the game.
My suggestions for the two questions is 50 land per player and as soon as they click explore for the first time.

We also need an active admin.
Jing has a very valid point there.
This idea could have promise. Sadly, Jing was spot on about having an active admin or admins. Without active admin / admins nothing will change or happen.
Maybe one of the Nations mods that know a bit about coding *cough* danny *cough* could become a builder.
Or its just not worth the effort.... Unless more active members/mods/admins come along.

I do wonder though..... How will this effect the VIP Membership? As we know the market is a good advantage but as a limit to land is put on the game... will this be a hinderance to the market sales? would it be fair to say tthe vips get a discount on military? as well as the market? or something allong the lines... not a big discount, but say 10% or 5%?
Mini has a point too. With users having low lands, food/oil on the market won't be bought. Vips would be at a 'disadvantage'.

To add more spice to the game, an admin should create a Nation with thousands of land, millions/billions of cash, and has military so strong that it is unimaginable. And this uber Nation should be created at the start of each round.
Make it in such a way that the military of the Nation is able to withstand hundreds or even thousands of attacks, right till the last few days of the round.
Then during rise,everyone will have a free farm. Yes, everyone would want to hit this uber farm, but that's not the point. If a player is being hit by a human player while he is hitting this farm, it would be pointless(his military would be destroyed thus he can't hold more land).
Hell yeah, if someone has even more time to spare, make this Nation into a Bot. This Nation will do random attacks on anybody active in the game.

This would take some balancing for sure. The Nations engine (not written by me, or it would be easier to adjust) is somewhat limiting, as well as the design of the game. I'm open to suggestions and if the suggestions are well thought-out with all of the pros and cons weighed, I'm not "unavailable" to do it. However, emails pointing to these ideas would be better.
I am in my core classes right now in school, and have other life events to plan. Things have been a little crazy, and frequenting the forum isn't really happening right now.
