Computer problem! 9 replies
I used to be able to terminate SYSTEM processes but now it keeps saying Access Refused.
There seems to be only 1 user on my computer, perhaps somehow its not the administrator anymore?
Anyone knows what to do?

Why would you need to terminate them? I know you can't terminate certain ones like the System Idle Process, for obvious reasons.
I terminate processes pretty much everyday. If you keep an eye on them, you can sometimes see ones that haven't closed down after shutting down the program...
Because some unecessary programs show as system processes and it slows down my computer.

That's my task manager. Notice how there is nothing useless under SYSTEM.
Everything there is important with the exception of the mDNS thing which is some iTunes trash (I never installed anything from Apple on this system) that I can never get rid of. It's only 5mb, so who cares?

The problem is on this computer I bought from a guy.
His CPU keeps running at 90-95%
Yours seems to be running at 50~%, isnt it laggy a bit?
My main computer has the CPU running at 0-3% and its SUPER FREAKIN FAST. I never have to wait for anything.

I have dual core. Tasks are spread across both cores, but if they're not designed for multithreaded use, they can only use 100% combined. That's a bad explanation, but w/e. Anyway, Windows is retarded, so if both cores total 100, it divides that number by 2 to get the total usage. I guess that's not totally retarded, but, yeah, it's retarded.:P
I am running Folding@Home GPU which uses the graphics card for running the program. For some reason this totally maxes one core, so the usage is 50%. But I feel no lag because the other core is free. My GPU, however, is under a very heavy load. It's at 73C right now.

Oh yeah, if your system is idling, it should be at <5%, so your system is fine. If that system is at 90% always, it has a virus.
Someone posted this link here before. I found it really useful for cleaning up things on my computer that I couldn't get rid of otherwise. It made a big difference to the speed of my computer. Try it. You'll need to be able to devote alot of time to do it however. It took me the better part of a day (as in 24 hours).
