How do people get 1/2 energy shields for their additonal item?

The best item you can get only blocks 20 damage on all attacks. You can go to an armor shop though and get some armor that absorbs 1/2 damage.. I believe the Level 3 Energy Shield in the forbidden locker is one of the better ones for starting off, at least until you can afford Adamite and then save for the Goliath Mech V2.

And I couldn't tell you exactly how often you'll find the locker, I found it about 16 times in 30 minutes though last I counted.
