Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street 27 replies
I went seeing this movie yesterday and I am shocked at how good it was. I am not a fan of broadway comedies, but i'm impressed by this one. The actors' performances and voices were amazing. The storyline was, for once, hard to predict and everything in the movie was great.

I am legend was decent, but not worth Sweeney Todd.

Isn't I Am Legend like all those other "last man or group alive/find survivors/fix plague or virus or something" movies? Like 28 (time spans) Later? Don't get me wrong, they were excellent movies, but how many are necessary?
Actually, from what ive been told, I am Legend is about the last man alive on the world. And from what i was told (someone who read the book *not* the movie) its vampires.
Dondon, those movies were mostly played out with the killing and/or eradicating of the "infected" persons in an effort to get to a safe place.
I Am Legend focuses on the actual search for the cure. And there's not as much pop n' kills. Plus, the other movies had MANY survivors, etc. In this movie, there's ONE guy, and his dog.
But Smith's acting is incredible, so if you don't wanna see it 'cause of the storyline, watch it for the acting. For the first half of the movie, his only co-actors are his dogs, and manikins... Oh, and the occasional deer.

I just saw Sweeny Todd tonight too! It was really good, but wow was that blood ever fake.

uhh This is why I have come to hate the old "I heard the movie sucked" line... I have found probably 75% of the time that I have enjoyed and found the movie in question to be good or worthy of watching... that would even be an understatement for I am Legend.. I found that it was superb in all aspects. It made me angry, scared, sad, happy, and it even made me laugh at one point or the other. I was really drawn into the Character that smith portrays oh so well.
It has nothing to do with vampires, or any stereotypical zombies... It is nothing like any zombie flick I've seen, which even I thought it was going to be sort of like, which in turn gave the element of surprise, especially if you were going into it without any previous knowledge of what it was about.
People in general, are just plain bad critics, and their overall rating of the movie is most usually inadequate as their views on the quality of said movie are usually quite crudely limited to what they expect, or want to see. I, on the other hand, am the type to analyze each movie and the various aspects of it for what it is.
I enjoyed it quite a bit, and I will refer anyone who wishes to watch it to http://www.vidics.com/media.php?id=373 where it is uploaded in divx form, and you can watch it from the page. You may have to install the divx player, which is really not a big deal to do.

As of late, the "last man alive" scenario is most pleasing when we are going through yet another "The world is going to end soon" phase... that is to say as if we ever came out of that phase in the first place... which we really haven't... but I know what you mean, however, for this movie I'll make an exception, because of how well done it was.
It may not even be that different to some in their opinions, whether compared simplistically, or complexly, heck, I may even be doing an injustice to myself and others with raveing about it as I have--due to my excitement--because I may have insufficient evidence of the movies considered to be alike in story line, and plot, to even be able to make such judgements, as I haven't spent a lot of time keeping track of all the movies that may be similiar, but this I do know: Smiths acting was great, the movie effects were awesome, and I enjoyed it... kinda wishing it was longer..

I Am Legend was probably the best movie I've seen in a long time. Will Smith's acting was amazing. I totally agree on the wishing it was longer.

Honestly, when i'm su amazed by a movie, it's hard to drag my attention to another for a while.

No lol, not at all. Just go see it.
I enjoyed it! The previews of it made me question the movie at first, but I went to watch it with my fiance and it was very good.

depp has harder roles than smith. Smith just playes pretty much normal people depp actually has to have more Acting like in the pirates of the caribean(sp) he had to act like a pirate and now in sweeney todd he has to play some w/e u call it hanvt seen it yet but depp has more "acting" in his movies
It is true that Depp does have the uncanny ability to play the most unusual odd ball characters really well... but at the same time, I don't think that Smith's usual roles deprives him of his overall ability to be a great actor in any scenario.
