are there a certain amount of items in the "field" of the wastelands?

What I mean is are there unlimited Shield Generators in the game or people just hogging all of them so there's none left?

There's no limit to the amount of items players can found in the Wastelands. Even though there are hundreds of Shield Generators (or whatever else) that have been found yet, you still have as much chances as before to find one and so will you in the future.

37000 kills later, still havent seen one. come to think of it, i havent even seen a SSG either.
