What does it celebrate?

And don't tell me that it's celebrating the birth of Jesus. Jesus was born in March.

It is fact that a variety of Christmas-like events were celebrated far before Christ was born. Although it was so differnt that one would question if it should be called "Christmas" at all.

So what does Christmas celebrate? Well, you may want to look into where the title "Christmas" originated from. But do we celebrate it appropiately considering the meaning of the title of our most beloved holiday of the year?

Ever hear of the Yuletide? Where do you think that came from?

Ever here of Kris Kringle? Where do you think that came from?

Not North America.

It is just the smae as everything. All differnt cultures celebrate similiar events differently.

It is celeberating the birth of Jesus.

Most religious holidays aren't celebrated on there acuall date of occurance. In the catholic church, advent is for preparation or whatever for the coming of Jesus.

If I recall correctly, Jesus was in fact born in March.

Either way: Good Friday represents the DEATH of Jesus, and Easter Monday celebrates his supposed ressurrection (for my personal beliefs on the ressurrection, I refer you to my paper, entitled "What a load of crap"). Either way, Easter/Good Friday has nothing to do with his birth.

And for the record, I would like to point out that the Last Supper was a JEWISH CELEBRATION (A Passover Seder), and that for centuries long before Jesus was born, Jewish people had gethered with friends and family for these meals. Jesus did not start the idea. Stupid.
