Virus or adware.

Run Spybot Search and Destroy and do a full virus scan.

Virus or Spyware. And DON'T post the link dammit.

Run SuperAntiSpyware, which is free, and has worked 90% better than any other free thing.

Spybot search & destroy:

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

And just do a standard scan with whatever anti-virus you use. If you don't have an anti-virus I'd recommend using NOD32 or Kaspersky. If you don't want to search for a crack for either just download some free anti virus like AVG or Avast.

Norton, Kaspersky, AVG, Avast... Are ALL wastes of time... Spybot is quite useful, has some useful features, least of which is finding and gettig rid of virus's/spyware... And as I said before, Superantispyware is better, has fixed and detected more problems than all the above, and is free.

It is easy to find, I'm sure I shouldn't have to show you a link here, the site is probably under it's own name... If you can't click the links in yahoo, use google, if same, try copy + pasting the URL into the address bar, and it should be under the listing in the yahoo or google page.

I've had this type of thing happen many times, you should be able to get around it.

Anti-spyware programs are not replacements for virus scanners. Yes, they can detect viruses, trojans, worms, etc., but only common ones. Definitions are also updated less frequently for anti-spyware programs. I run NOD32 as an antivirus and I receive 1-2 updates per day. In comparison, Spybot SD had definitions released on Feb 4 - NINE days ago. It doesn't take a quarter of that for a severe virus to spread around the Internet. Also, anti-spyware programs do not perform active monitoring like an AV program does. An AV program will stop an infected file from being executed, and often detects infected files which you just downloaded, but haven't loaded yet. I've had good experiences with NOD32 and Kaspersky. I've also heard good things about Norton's Gaming AV, since it isn't as bloated as normal Norton (though I expect NOD32 is still the lightest AV out there) AVG isn't actually very good, it's just free. You can get NOD32 for $10-15 on sale, and it lasts for one year.

You're right, they're not the same, anti virus's monitor... that is true... but I'm more worried about what is on my computer, and what can detect it.

Last anti-virus I used was Rising Anti-virus.

Correct. I only DL from trustable sources, MOST the time... However, for the occasional one that I take a chance on, I did use my Rising.

I told you, DL superantispyware... My friend JUST had a similiar problem, and I told him to do the same... Guess what, it worked. And even if it doesn't totally solve your whole problem, it WILL probably get rid of something.

That's because they don't want you to DL it. You need to find a different location for a DL, like softpedia, or download.com.

i got norton 360 and it isnt even detecting any viruses. (so much for being the top protection)

i downloaded pc tools and it was pretty good; it detected 8 viruses and 104 infected files. however, when i tried to fix it, it said i needed a key/code/etc.

dondon, i cant even access my aim and alot of other stuff. =/

im about to just call dell tomorrow and see what they can do.

You should burn everything important to discs and do a reformat. It's the easiest and quickest way to get rid of most viruses, and for many, the only way.

Uhh... Out of all the above mentioned... Superanti has picked up more and has fixed MORE. Both in my experience, and for those I've referred it too. And that would be atleast 4 people. Although, I should mention that having a variety of Anti spyware, and anti virus software would be good, as a few of them detect different problems better than the other, and some software also comes with useful side tools, like Spybot which I solely use for some of it's extra features, but nevertheless, Superanti has done things none of the above have done for me, and I've tried MANY things, as well as most the above, and more. I've had many virus's/spyware in the past, not because of the software I choose, or because they have vulnerabilities or something, but because I would surf, and DL quite risky, and yet, I've managed to fix my problem pretty much every time... If your PC is deeply damaged, I would refer you to Majorgeeks, and their virus removal section, where they have a guide specifically made to get rid of pretty much anything you have. In that guide will be Superantispyware among others.

Click Start > Run and type msconfig Clear the box that says Load Startup Items.

Then click Start > Run and type regedit
Expand the folders under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MCAHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun

In the right hand window it should just have an entry for Default. Delete everything else under there. Then do the same for the RunOnce folder just below the Run folder.

After doing both those, restart your computer and try to go to Trend Micro's website and do their online virus scan. Its free and works well.

Also, try uninstalling Kazaa Media Desktop, My Web Search, EQArticle, Bearshare, and Viewpoint manager.

Also try downloading hijack this and post your scan results on here so I can see what is running in your Windows.

Restart your computer? Why, so the Virus can re-activate?

Advice. Never buy Norton. Customer service completely sucks unless you are a business customer then it’s extremely good. Literally, it takes you 30 minutes to get a customer service rep to pick up your call to tell you they cannot help you.

In addition, you might want to take note that 360 do actually tax your system. Try uninstalling 360 and your find your computer will be faster than before.
