Trophies 60 replies
Post your ideas for what trophies you would either like to receive, or that would be available for winning. If you have images that could be used, that would be helpful as well. Max icon size for a trophy is 32x32 pixels. However, larger versions for a detailed view can be much larger.
Some that have been thought of are:
- Ranks for TL
- Round ranking for Nations
- Member time achievements (1 year, 2, 4, etc years)

Maybe we should add a trophy for each person who won a round or ten in Nations. It should be a white star or something.
The SCF on Tom is neat too. Maybe for the those people with an account that reached such a rank?
As for age, I think it should divide into three categories. 3 years. 5 years. 10 years. Maybe using the site's old icons?
Just some stuff from the top of my head.

I believe I've proposed something like most mili/weaps/etc. trophies or ranks (for each research) for nations. Most land, most cash, most cash per turn, most food/oil per turn are some other ideas. There should also be something like "best warrior", but not sure how to determine that.
Maybe another award for keeping the forums/chat alive, but that could turn into a spam contest =P

Well for me, I've ranked a bunch of times in nations on different accounts..
So I want to be able to show the number of times I've won or ranked high over all my accounts
Show it as a trophy on my FB page :D
err I cant remember all my pws too Lol
you could make trophies based on age if you like, but i bet people would find it hard to find their pws.. Lol
maybe a function where a Mod (older the better) ticks off people being linked to accounts without pws >_< then you could see i signed up round 2 :D
As for trophies, you could assign 1 trophy for each year from sign up with oldest recordable account? I recommend Vampire style ranks :D

I'd have to agree with Scythy :)
I was intending to have a "Trophy Contributor" trophy for those who come up with some good ideas. Going above and beyond just saying it and producing some pictures that go along with their trophy ideas would definitely get a higher version of the trophy.

how come i see a pair of pink panties
I like the idea but if it is for winning certain rounds and stuff it is ok.... but to award for almost nothing seems pointless... the forums will be just a small post with a sig, and then 25-50 trophies.
It would really crowd the forums up with pics... but I like to trophies for bigger things like winning or having done something hard in the games.

To return on BC's post.. Simply calculate all the battle thingy in the advisor tab.. like 163/70 (60ish%) or whatever from each player then go whit the percentage lol simple. well.. NO the most attack won lol

Well they need to code in a Trophy of "Tina is Awesome" ASAP.
I like the idea of trophies, but you should give them some sort of weight or value.
And also, trophies for however long you've been a member of NN, to me, seems like a stupid idea. It just alienates newer players by saying "lol this is something you'll never be able to get la-la-lalala".
Just stuff that everyone's able to obtain, that gives the impression to anyone that "hey, this seems like something I can do if I want." Not "well everyone who new about this website before me got a trophy for knowing about it and I didn't even have a chance, how jacked up is this?"
I mean, maybe if this website grows more with future updates and releases.. With an already stable trophy system (that's achievable [well, achievable can mean extremely difficult]), then maybe later the personalized trophies and such can be awarded as a novelty amongst your (could-be) already large collection of shiny trophies.
But right off the bat, throwing in a bunch of trophies that only certain people can get and certain can't based solely on (for example) how long you've been a member on the site (such as "I was pre-void" or "nations beta player"), is a possible turn-off for people who just joined and would seem totally unfair.
Just my two cents on the subject.

Although, I mean, the number of years you've been a member wouldn't be a bad idea I suppose. This'll be a terrible example, but on Neopets, on the message boards under your username and avatar there's a badge showing how many years/weeks/days (whichever looks nicer) you've been a member of the site. I think something like that would be neat, yes.

Blake giving the person with the best trophy idea his badge)...... However this will ultimately end up with these badges just being favoritism badges.

- Site major anniversary pins (Once a decade maybe?)
- Game competitions trophies (Danny's TL event type stuff)
- Round Winner trophies (stackable so that there are not like sixty trophies on one person's profile)

Actually, maybe "trophies" should just be a rollover list under your icon. It could be something triangular and small, like a bar, so it won't draw your attention away from your icon, but noticeable enough to know it's there.
The list have to be hidden most of the time, so when someone actually wants to see your list of trophies, they'll have to move the mouse over the trophy image themselves.
The image for each trophy should be different, like a rank. The more accomplishments you have, the more you... level up, so to speak.
As for the list, each category should have a rank too. Such as the person with ten wins should have a more powerful title than a person with one.
E.g:
For Nations:
Tarsonis21: Commander-in-Chief: 10 Round Wins in Nations.
Cronus: Marshal: 1 Round Win in Nations.
For Terran Legacy:
Tarsonis21: Undisputed: Owner of a Supreme Chosmic Force in Terran Legacy.
Cronus: Cannon Fodder: Owner of a Private in Terran Legacy.
For World At Ruins 2:
Tarsonis21: Champion: Lvl XXX Character in War2.
Cronus: Recruit: Level X Character in War2.
For Forum Post:
Cronus: Windbag: 4000 posts or more in the forums.
Tarsonis21: Hotshot: 1000 posts or more in the forums.
...And so on.
So I'm saying each list should have four slots or so for trophies, three games and forums, so the list won't be too long to read it in under an hour.
This will prevent the trophies from clogging the forums and help prevent the people who still have ancient machines from lagging when they flip through the forums. It'll also prevent people from getting too self-conscious because everyone could see their accomplishments, or lack of, in one look.
As for FB, I suggest putting off it until you have a set of cool, but small images that'll really impress or draw interest.
Of course, if you really want a pretty wall for your FB and pretty trophies to stroke your e-penz0r, then maybe you guys were on to something when you called it a pin.
Instead of squared icons under your siggy or a pretty bar, maybe you guys could settle for pips instead. It should be small, say around 5x5 pixels each, and located and listed horizontally under your icon.
The numbers should be around four, each one symbolizing an active game in nations and the forums.
The ranking system for that is sorted out with colors.
Platinum(Basically silver, but with a glow).
Gold.
Silver.
Bronze.
Nothing/Dark Gray.
The pips basically does the same thing as the bar I mentioned earlier, that if you hover the mouse over it, it'll list your accomplishments, but it only records one thing. It'll still have the ranks and summary that I threw with the bar idea.
By and by. It doesn't need to be a pip. You could have a different image or shape for each category. only it has to be small.
It could even be a small square, forming the basis for a bar!
If neither of those ideas could be done, then stackable trophies sound like a good idea, but the number should be kept at a minimum.

Well most of the thread I didn't read, but I tried looking for any ideas I already had.. I didn't notice at least one, so you should give trophies to Vips(Which is kinda funny, because they've already got their yellow name and what not) or if you can go look at how much each person has paid you could have a few like has donated more than 10$, 50$, etc.
The etc one can be labeled "Rich b**ch" Lol, that's actually an award on another forum I am registered on.. But it's still a good idea on paper. Just putting it out there.

There are certain events which build reputable (or infamous) players. I haven't seen some mentioned that I think ought to be:
1. Bravada
Began/led a strong clan in Nations for [N] rounds (i.e.: Hehe and Hoieri, Stormbringer and Chattan, Korgrath/ChaoticLaw and IC, et al).
Where [N] varies according to tier of Bravada
3 = Bravada Bronze
5 = Bravada Silver
7 = Bravada Gold
13 = Bravada Platinum
2. Commanding Loyalty
SA in the same clan as it ranks top 3 for [N] consecutive rounds
Same ranks as Bravada
3. Old MacDonald
Awarded to one player per round. Calculated by subtracting highest rank attained after day 3 by final rank. For example, somebody farms their way to 1st, then is knocked down to finish in 38th place. Nobody else attains a greater deficit, thus the trophy is awarded to this farmer.
4. Brett Favre
Granted by MOD or ADMIN under special circumstances when a player phases in and out of retirement to such ridiculous proportions that labeling is deemed necessary. Bonus points awarded if the player's name is difficult to pronounce.
5. Benedict Arnold
Labels a player who has serious commitment issues as evidenced by switching between ranked clans [N] times in a 3 round period. Note that ranking requirements prevents users from forming their own clans simply to earn the badge.
3 = Benedict Bronze
4 = Benedict Silver
6 = Benedict Gold
9 = Benedict Platinum
6. Obsessed
Awarded after a player has completed [N] rounds and lost fewer than 25 turns per round(to adjust for possible lost turns at the beginning/end of the round)
1 = Obsessed Bronze
2 = Obsessed Silver
4 = Obsessed Gold
7 = Obsessed Platinum
10 = Obsessed Diamond

7. Killjoy
Awarded to a player who manages to singlehandedly sink a player by [N] ranks in a single series of attacks. A series of attacks is considered to be any period of time between when the first attack occurred and either somebody else attacks or the attacked player gains tech points, whichever comes first.
2 = Killjoy Bronze
5 = Killjoy Silver
9 = Killjoy Gold
12 = Killjoy Platinum
8. Showstopper
Any player who finishes in the top 5 is considered eligible to receive the Showstopper Award. The admin or mod in charge of delegating the award selects from these five based upon an index he/she published previously. For example:
3 pts - highest ranked clan
3 pts - SA in respective clan
11 pts - answered 11/12 questions correctly in a Denver Broncos trivia quiz sent in private messages.

"I was pre-void", I was a "nations beta player" and I played diabloplus. But I'm hardly on here, so I don't think trophies for how long people have been on here make any sense.
